Welcome message from Pastor Johnson
Welcome to Immanuel Lutheran Church. . .
In years past, we have been called “the Church with a Lighted Cross,” because many years ago, pilots to and from LaGuardia, used our church to direct their planes to runway number 22. When the church steeple failed to light, a pilot from LaGuardia Field called to ask whether we intended lighting it again. We have been in the community since December 26, 1894! Since then, Immanuel has been a place of learning, healing, teaching and guiding our community-at-large by proclaiming the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ in an ever changing world.
Today, we are a mosaic congregation having various ministry opportunities offered to the community. We are a local congregation connected with the global communion of believers. We are affiliated with Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (www.lcms.org). Follow us on Facebook and /or Twitter.
